Dental Care Against Periodontal Disease
Despite the many advances in dental technology and the campaign against periodontal disease and decay, there continues a trend of daily influx of people visiting dental clinics and hospitals to help treat tooth decay, advanced abscesses, inflamed gums and the like. Dental health remains one of the most overlooked aspect of many people. There are those who don’t care what their teeth will look like if they don’t brush, gargle, floss and visit the dentist once in a while.
There are many ways to treat periodontal disease, decay and inflammations. There is always dental surgery if worse comes to worst, or anti-inflammatory drugs to take in and relieve pain and numb down the inflammation if push comes to shove. But as much as possible, as dentists always say, everyone must take care of their teeth by being consistent with a regular, basic daily cleaning routine.
It is important to go the extra mile when cleaning our teeth. It is not enough if one simply brushes the teeth and go “ok, that’s that!” Make sure that you floss as well. You can use any brand or flavour you like, as it depends on your preference and what your teeth is comfortable with using. If you have a narrow gap in between the teeth, make sure that you use a very fine and waxed thread, and even if it has flavour, it’s still okay. If you have enough space between the teeth, you can opt for a dental tape which is thicker than the usual waxed thread. This gets all the debris out in one swipe.
Tooth decay and gum problems happen when we don’t avoid things that we know are bad for the teeth. Eating candies that are gooey or hard which may stick to the teeth may become the very thing that will spell the demise of your teeth. It is especially worrisome because the presence of sugar can make your saliva acidic temporarily. The longer that you go on without cleaning your tooth, the more time you give to make the bacteria grow and multiply.
Our oral health can only withstand so much attack from all sides by bad bacteria and acids that chip away at the enamel. Keeping our whole mouth clean ensures that bacteria will have very little reason to settle in the mouth. The more you clean away the food debris that may be used by the bacteria to eat and multiply, the more you lower the chances of yourself developing the nightmare of periodontal disease.
